It’s not every day that you get to see a group of high school students making solid, well-researched recommendations to their city leaders, but that’s what Open Meadow City Corps youth did the morning of June 13th.
The council chambers were packed as the eight students from Open Meadow High School presented the results of their work with the city’s Office of Youth Violence Prevention. They made recommendations to the city and council for reducing youth violence.
The City Corps program has been a very exciting partnership over the last two years between Open Meadow and the City of Portland, and this presentation was a clear demonstration of Open Meadow youth at their best.
