The Step Up Counselor is responsible for ensuring that all High School SU students are given the advocacy necessary to be successful in school. This position coordinates closely with School Success Advocates to develop the skill sets needed to effectively work with their students to promote social-emotional growth. The Counselor is responsible for student interventions, facilitation of follow-up groups, community service referrals, and 1:1 counseling. The Counselor is a key position assisting and supporting the site Program Coordinator with all elements of the program that directly affect students and their families including conducting home and family visits, enrollment, and facilitating connection with school and community resources. They must manage a wide array of confidential and sensitive program information, and maintain a professional demeanor toward staff and students, while exhibiting passion for the mission and values of the organization and the students it serves.
