Open Meadow CRUE (Corps Restoring the Urban Environment) serves 42 tenth–twelfth grade students, ages 16–21. CRUE’s goal is to cultivate self-directed learners who are responsible for themselves and the environment.
The CRUE program emphasizes the development of a positive work ethic and marketable job skills, as well as a healthy lifestyle and respect for others. Students are enrolled in classes three days during the week focusing on math, science, language arts, social science, health, and physical education. The remaining two days are spent in a project crew where the curriculum is hands-on and project-based, using the project site as a classroom.
